Perak’s Akmar Rizal Rakhli (centre) tries to get past two Kelantan defenders in their Super League match at the Perak Stadium on Tuesday. Perak won 4-0.
THE scoreline was 4-0 in favour of hosts Perak who continued to keep leaders Selangor under pressure, but some unruly fans nearly spoilt the day when supporters of the home team and visitors Kelantan almost clashed at the Perak Stadium on Tuesday.

However, timely intervention by Rela members and Federal Reserve Unit personnel brought the potentially explosive situation under control.

A small group of young Perak fans on the terraces must be blamed for the incident. They kept agitating some 1,000 Kelantan supporters who, to their credit, stayed cool although their team were down 2-0.

The visiting fans, after being goaded long enough, took matters into their hands and went for the local supporters, which almost resulted in an ugly incident but for the intervention of the security personnel.

Water bottles and firecrackers were thrown on to the pitch whenever Perak scored a goal.

Some 18,000 Perak supporters -- the highest number this season -- turned up to support their team who are second in the Super League.

The players did not disappoint the fans and finished the match as impressive winners.

However, Perak coach Norizan Bakar warned his players that there is still a long way to go.

"We have played only 11 matches... the team played well and got the points," said Norizan.

On Razali Umar Kandasamy, who was absent from training for some time but was later accepted into the squad, the coach said: "It's a team effort, he is part of the team and managed to contribute."

Razali, who came in for Mohd Shafiq Jamal in the 67th minute, even got his name on the scoresheet nine minutes from time.

Perak's other goals were netted by Mohd Fazrul Hazli (fifth), Mohd Shafiq Jamal (26th) and Akmal Rizal Rakhli (78th).
